Mrs. Betty Gibson Vaughn entered into eternal rest at home Sunday morning, December 31, 2017.
Born December 5, 1927 in Hampton County, she was a daughter of George and Agnes Gibson. She was a member of the Columbia Road Church of God and for many years taught the Annie B. Dixon Sunday School Class. She will be remembered for her unconditional love for family and friends and her love of cooking and sharing with everyone. She was pre-deceased by her husband James Wilson (J.W.) Vaughn Sr. and son James Wilson “Wilkie” Vaughn, Jr., son-in-law, Richard Clark, her brothers Norris and Bill Gibson and sisters, Peggy Craft, Eunice Padgett, Irene Harvey, Louella Kinsey, Ethel Driggers Outz, Dorothy Thomas and Barbara Williams.
Surviving are children O’Neal Vaughn (Lillie) and Pamela Shuler (Kenny) and daughter-in-law Ina Vaughn. Grandchildren are Wendy Ivey (LeGrand), Rachael Mixson (Lee), Amy Roberts (Mike), Jason Vaughn (Keitha), Justin Vaughn (Abby), Valerie Turner (Chuck), Chad Clark (Jamie) , Travis Clark, Jason Connelly (Bren) and Susan Cox (Jay), Great-grandchildren are Kayden and Heather Thompson, Micala and Madison Wachowski, Travis and Cooper Mixson, Bradley (Brittney), Brielle Turner, Chesney Clark, Braxton Vaughn, Abbi and Chandler Whetstone, Farah Givens, Jessica and Douglas Cook, Jacob and Daniel Connelly. There is one great-great grandson, Aiden McKelvey.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Columbia Road Church of God with Reverend Keith Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Columbia Road Church of God.
