Dorothy Virginia Goodwin Rast, 87 of Orangeburg passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Jolley Acres Healthcare Center in Orangeburg

Funeral Services will be held  3:00 PM Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at  Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg  with burial at  Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg  with  Adrien Haigler  officiating. 

Pallbearers will be  Al Goodwin, Allen Fogle, Chuck Fogle, Hank Goodwin, James Robinson and Donald Thomas 

She was born October 2, 1929 in Orangeburg, SC; the daughter of the late Louis A. Goodwin and the late Louise Ferguson Goodwin. She was owner and operator of Dot’s Beauty Shop in Cordova, SC. She was preceded in death by her first husband,  Fulton “Konia” Rast and by her second husband Charles A. Baltzegar. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Oscar Goodwin and Gene Goodwin.

Survivors include a son; Rex (Vicki) Rast of Cordova; a daughter, Patty Sue (Walter) Kemmerlin of  Cordova; grandchildren, April (Dan) Zmitrovich of Atlanta, GA; Donald Gene (Lisa) Kemmerlin of Cordova; Stacey Wagers (Fiancé, Eric Smoak) of Cordova and Brian Kemmerlin of Orangeburg; great grandchildren; Dillon Kemmerlin  of Cordova, Kylie Zmitrovich and Caden Zmitrovich both of Atlanta, GA; Nicholas Wagers, Derrick (Layla) Worthington and Nathan Cook all Cordova; 1 brother; Henry (Kathy) Goodwin of Orangeburg; 2 sisters, Frances G. (Bobby) Fogle of Neeses and Gladys G. Arends of Cordova  and a special friend, Howard Langley.

Friends may call at the residence of Rex and Vicki Rast.

Visitation will be held  6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Jolley Acres Healthcare Center and to Howard O’Cain and Adrien Haigler for their care and love shown to Mrs. Dot and family over the last 8 years.
