Philip T . "Bird Dog" Fanning, Jr.

Philip T. “Bird Dog” Fanning, Jr., 69  of Neeses  passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017  at his home.                                                          

Funeral Service will be held 6:00 PM Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with Rev. Dewitt Livingston officiating. A Private burial will be held by the family.

Honorary pallbearers will be Allan Corbett, Ross Fogle, Glenn Shirey, Bob Cobwell, Tom Nutall, Ted Price and Gus Whetsell.

He was born September 3, 1948 in Orangeburg, SC; the son of Annie Mae Smith Fanning and the late Philip T. Fanning. He served in the US Army Reserve and was a Mason. He was retired from the Savannah River Plant. He loved spending time with his 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; he loved farming, camping, cooking, running concessions and his stores and riding his Polaris.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Martin Fanning of the home; daughter, Donna Fanning Diamond (Hugh) of North; son, Philip Thomas Fanning III (Amanda) of Orangeburg; daughter, Hope Fanning (Titus Byrd) of Neeses; grandchildren; Dakota Diamond (Shelby),  Hunter Diamond, Chelsea Byrd, Philip Thomas Fanning IV, Shaylen Byrd, John Travis Fanning; a great grandchild, Bradyn Diamond; also surviving are  his Mother, Annie Mae Smith Fanning of Neeses; 1 brother, 2 sisters and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends  may call at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.  Visitation will follow the funeral service at the funeral home.
