Betty (Jones) Brandenburg

Betty J. Brandenburg, 82, of Pensacola (the last 9 years), went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2018. She was born to Bertha and Mayfield Jones on June 11, 1936 in Orangeburg, SC.

Betty was raised in Orangeburg, SC where she graduated from Orangeburg High School.  In 1955 she married the love of her life and best friend, Seignous Dantzler Brandenburg. They had four wonderful children, Cheryl Elizabeth, John Steven (dec.) Carl Jay (dec.) and Joel Kenneth.  After her husband passed, Betty attended Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College where she obtained an associate degree in Secretarial Science Justice. She worked at the Department of Juvenile Justice for the state of South Carolina for over 14 years.  Betty loved the Lord and was a member of the First Church of Nazarene before moving to Pensacola, where she lived with her daughter and family.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband and two sons.

Betty leaves to cherish her memories children, Cheryl (Andrew) Blewer and Joel (Carla) Brandenburg; grandchildren, Drew Blewer, Scott Blewer, Jonathan Blewer, Michael Blewer, and Lisa Sandefur, Erin Saalfrank , Meghan Brandenburg, Jade McAlhany, Blake Scott, and Jeannice Scott; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Jeremy Sandefur will be officiating.  There will be a fellowship at Joel and Carla’s home, 3880 Turky Hill Court, Orangeburg, SC 29118 following the memorial service.
