Message from John G. Reich, Former SC State Fire Marshal
July 21, 2017 3:53 PM

My sincere condolences are extended to the Family & Friends of Chief Gambrell. It was a pleasure working with him throughout my fire service career. He was a man of integrity and always served to the best of his ability protecting lives and property. His positive demeanor and unique sense of humor often made a tough job better. He served as a positive roll model to many and his legacy will continue through those he trained and served beside him. May God 's grace provide you peace, comfort and assurance during this time.
Respectfully.
John Reich

I offer my sincere condolences to your family during this difficult time. Continue to lean upon family and friends for support. God gives us comfort and hope at 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 and Revelation 21:4 when we mourn during occasions like these. May you find the peace and strength needed to endure the days ahead.

When my father died, I received a card that said simply, "A life that touches the heart of others goes on forever." Greg lives on...in his beloved family, his treasured friends, every life that benefited from his dedication to a life of service, the community he selflessly gave to, the example he set for all of us, and in the memory of a life well lived. It was my honor to have known such a fine man. All blessings on your journey, Greg.

To the family, we can surely say with the Apostle Paul, in the Holy Scriptures, we sorrow not as others which have no hope. Greg had a strong faith in the Lord Jesus, as he openly professed, and we look forward to seeing him in heavens glory. Chief Greg, a special man with a real heart for the fire service and for his community. A special man with a practical fire service insight. May the Lord bless and keep you. Gene Ball, Orangeburg County Fire District/ Chaplain SCSAFC

I wish to convey my deepest sympathy to the family of Chief Gregory S. Gambrell. I hope that you and your family will take comfort in the resurrection hope found at Acts 24:15, which says: "And I have a hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."
