Elizabeth “Betsy” Clanton Black, 79, of Vance, S.C. passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Barnwell County Memory Garden in Barnwell, S.C. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Betsy was born on December 20, 1938 in Statesboro, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Henry Clanton and the late Jessie Brannen Clanton. She was a member of the Orangeburg Pilot Club where she held every office. She was the former Governor of the South Carolina Pilot Club. She was also the former President of the S.C. Retirement Association.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Howell Black; daughter, Sandra Black McCoy (Addison “Tripp”) of Vance; sister, Henrietta Walker (Dr. Harvey) of Anderson; brother, Charles Clanton (Peggy) of Lexington, S.C.; sister-in-law, Rheta Woodard of Barnwell and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
