George Mackay Obituary

George Chisolm Mackay, Jr. 88, a lifelong resident of Orangeburg, S.C. passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg. Rev. Robert Cannon will be officiating.

Mr. George was born on December 16, 1929 in Orangeburg. He was the son of the late George Chisolm Mackay, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Muckenfuss Mackay. He was predeaseed by his wife, Janet Tyson Mackay and a son George C. Mackay Ill. He was a retired employee from the City of Orangeburg Fire Department and faithfully served the city for 32 years until June 30th, 1986. He was a Master Mason of Progress Masonic Lodge No. 356 for over 50 years in Orangeburg and was a Shriner. He was member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Marion A. Mackay of Orangeburg; foster daughter,Brenda Driggers of Charleston, grandchildren, Corey A. Mackay (Charlotte), Travis A. Mackay, Carrie (Mackay) Miller, Chris Mackay; and a brother J. R. Mackay.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home in Orangeburg with Masonic Rites.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital at 950 Farris Road, Greenville, S.C, 29605.
