Gilbert Lawton Fogle, Jr., 73, formerly of Cordova, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2019. Gilbert was the eldest son of the late Gilbert Lawton Fogle, Sr. and Carolyn (Gramling) Fogle of Cope. He graduated from Edisto High School in 1965 and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in 1975. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife Ginger (Bass) Fogle of Cordova, and the couple had two children.
Gilbert worked for 34 years at Koyo Corporation in Orangeburg and was retired at the time of his death. He loved watching westerns, deer hunting, and talking to just about anybody he ever met.
He leaves his daughter Robin and her husband Matt Kurz of St. Matthews; and his son Jason and his wife Cheryl (Collins) Fogle of Aiken. He also leaves four grandchildren, Cady and Shelbi Kurz, both of Clemson, and Jaylen and Jacob Fogle, both of Aiken. Gilbert is survived by his sister Elaine and her husband Jimmy Jeffcoat; brother LaRue and his wife Dianne (Metts) Fogle, all of Cope and his sister-in-law, Donna Melton Fogle of Gaston. He also leaves many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gilbert was predeceased by his parents and his younger brother, Ollie Fogle.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg. Rev. Ken Hay will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-4:30 P.M. following the service.
