Hubert "Buddy" Watson O'Cain, III

Hubert Watson ”Buddy” O’Cain III, 76 of Orangeburg died Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Lexington Medical Center.  

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Prospect Southern Methodist Church in Jamison with Rev. Danny McLellan and Rev. Dr. John Hucks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.                                                 

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Davis, Kirk Davis, Billy Hickson, Buzz Braxton, Steve Branham, Dale Williams, Howard Nettles and Bobby Bell.             

Mr. Hubert was born July 12, 1942, the son of the late Hubert Watson O’Cain II and the late Azalea Cooper O’Cain. He worked at Utica Tool Company for many years, at Mayer Industries and at Braxton Construction. He was a lifelong member of Prospect Southern Methodist Church in Jamison. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gilbert Leon O’Cain of Rowesville.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Joyce Renna Perry O’Cain; a daughter, Sarah Lea O’Cain Hucks (John) of Orangeburg; a son, Hubert Watson O’Cain IV (Toni) of North; five grandchildren, Ellen Renee Hucks of Orangeburg, Rachel Hucks Carter (Jamie) of Orangeburg, Hannah Kathleen Hucks of Columbia, SC, Addison Watson O’Cain and Ellison “Elli” Rae O’Cain of North, SC. He is also survived by a sister, Melanie O’Cain Metts (Frankie) of Orangeburg, a sister-in-law, Goldie Abstance O’Cain of Rowesville, many nieces and nephews, and several cousins.

Friends may call at the residence of Rev. Dr. John and Sarah Lea Hucks at 350 Pinehill Street, Orangeburg.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
