James Paul Joyner, 71 passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at MUSC in Charleston.
The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Rivelon Baptist Church in Orangeburg with burial at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg with Rev. Kevin Ard officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg. Masonic Rites will be held at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Kinsey, Cody Hair, Jordan Johnson , Shawn Pound, Justin Joyner and Adam Jackson
He was born December 30, 1947 in Hindman, KY; the son of the late William Garfield Joyner and the late Emma Jean Dyer Joyner. He was a Shriner, a member of the Masonic Progress Lodge #356, and a member of the Omar Temple. He was a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include his wife; Dawn Geddings Joyner of the home; 1 son; Jimmy(Hope) Joyner of Orangeburg; 2 daughters; Karen (Fletcher) Jennings of Charleston and Christie (Jamie) Canaday of Cope; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister; Darlene (Ed) Collins; brother; Glenn (Debbie) Joyner all of Orangeburg; sister; Dianne Anderson of Virginia; brothers; Mickey (Laura) Joyner of Orangeburg; Gary H. Joyner of Neeses and Eric (Marie) Joyner of Cope and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the home of Eric and Marie Joyner; 176 Dusty Road, Cope and at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, January 7, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
