James Clifton Young, Jr., 86 passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
Visitation will be held 1:30 to 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. George Baptist Church in Orangeburg with burial in the Church Cemetery with Dr. Davis Anderson and Pastor Steve Dees officiating.
Pallbearers will be Terry Whisenhunt, Trevor Whisenhunt, Steve Young, Jay Proveaux, Morty Herron and Captain Robert Long.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the James’s Men’s Sunday School Class.
James was born in Orangeburg County on January 22 , 1932. He was the son of the late James Clifton Young, Sr. and the late Mary Ellen Bruner Young. He married the love of his life, Ann Marie Whisenhunt Young on June 28, 1957. He served in the United States Army where he went to the Korean War in 1950. James was employed by U.S. Plywood (Champion) and retired after thirty-eight years of service. He was a gentle, caring man with a heart of gold. He was predeceased by sisters, Susie Goodwin and Dorothy Walling, a grandson, Dallas and a great-grandson, Mason.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Ann Young, his children, Mary Ann Scott, Bruce Young (Jamie), Glenda Cramer (Ryan), Dean Young (Regina), and Cliff Young (Kelly); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, John “J.W.” Young, Lois Nettles, Martha Berry (Gavin), Margie Rice, Sherrie Wolfe (Lennie); sisters-in law, Wanda Boltin (Melvin) and Faye Whisenhunt.
