Joe Ree Coleman, 91 formerly of Orangeburg, SC passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 30, 2018.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Memorial Church of the Nazarene, 569 Berry Street, Orangeburg with entombment at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

Pallbearers will be David Coleman, Randy Coleman, Doug Coleman, Jerry Govan, Carlos Murdy and Jay Busby.

Mrs. Joe was born on April 27, 1927; the daughter of the late Bertie and Ernest Hartley in Bishop, Georgia. They moved to North Carolina, where she spent many years and met the love of her life, Clarence David Coleman. They married and relocated to Orangeburg, SC. Joe began working as an administrative assistant for the Orangeburg County School System; a career she would hold for most of her adult life. She retired in 2014 from the District 5 office and moved to Pace, FL to spend the remainder of her years with her daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandson. She was a member of the Memorial Church of the Nazarene. She loved to serve the Lord, attend the camp meetings, Sunday School and it put the biggest smile on her face to see the children learning to serve the Lord as well.  She is joined in Heaven with her husband of 60 years, Clarence David Coleman, her sister, Sarah Coleman and her son, David Lloyd (Jack) Coleman, Sr.

She leaves behind her daughter, Linda Coleman Aligood of Pace, FL, 5 grandchildren; Mollie Martin of Pensacola, FL, Shelby Coleman of Orangeburg, SC, Damon Aligood (Kristie) of Pensacola, FL, David Coleman, Jr. (Renee) of Pelion, SC and Jamie Murdy (Carlos) of Pace, FL. She has 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. She also leaves behind 1 niece; Terri (Jay) Busby and 2 nephews; Doug (Bronda) Coleman and Randy (Kelly) Coleman. She loved them all as her own. She has many friends and extended family members that will cherish the memories they have of her and with her. One special friend in particular, Mr. Jerry Govan. Jerry was her boss for many years, but even greater than that was a friend. He and his family always welcomed her with open arms; and for that we are forever grateful.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice for the excellent care and support of Joe during the past 6 months.

Family and friends may pay their respects at Thompson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 4, 2018.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, the Memorial Church of the Nazarene, or the Emerald Coast Hospice of Pace, FL.
