Mary (Knowles) Rich

Mary Knowles Rich, 93, of Neeses, S.C. passed away on Saturday, July 28 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Hopewell Southern Methodist Church at 311 Kurt Poole Rd, Neeses, SC 29107.  Dr. John Hucks will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Hopewell Southern Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Hopewell Southern Methodist Church prior to the funeral service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Mrs. Mary’s grandsons and granddaughters.

She is survived by her beloved her husband of 72 years, Guy M. Rich of Neeses; daughters, Judy Rich Reynolds (“Skip”) of Prosperity, S.C., Sandy Rich Melton and the late Bobby M. Melton of Neeses, S.C.; grandchildren, Dionne Jackson Adams (Ken) of Cary, N.C., Wayne Jackson (Charity) of Simpsonville, S.C., Lizanne Hutto Beach (Rick) of Anderson, S.C., David Jackson (Robin) of Angleton, TX, Mitch Melton (Nicole) of Beaumont, TX; seventeen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rich was the daughter of the late W.C. Knowles, Sr. and the late Essie Knowles of Lodge, S.C.  She was a graduate of Anderson Junior College in Anderson, S.C. and Chandler Nursing School in Savannah, GA where she became a registered nurse.  Mrs. Rich was a member of the Eastern Star, Eutaw Chapter 162, Orangeburg, S.C.  She was a member of Hopewell Southern Methodist Church in Neeses, S.C. where she played the piano for over 30 years.  She was known to all who knew and loved her as “Mamie.”
