Michael George Smith, 55, formerly of Orangeburg passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019 after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Mike Ragland will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Phillip W. Gulley, Horace Leysath, John Clark, Robert Williams, Michael Marbert and Jay Tinkler.
Honorary pallbearers will be former co-workers from the S.C. Highway Patrol and the U.S. DEA.
Mike was born on May 13, 1964 in Orangeburg. He was the son of Bob Robinson, Sr. and the late Annette F. Sweat Robinson. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Progress Lodge #356 and the York Rite. Mike was a former South Carolina Highway Patrol Officer for several years and then transferred to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration where he retired after 21 years of service. He loved Harley-Davidson Motorcycles and going to the gun range for target practice.
He is survived by his wife, Susan L. Saccuzzo-Smith of Jacksonville, FL; sons, Matthew B. Smith (Caitlyn) of Middleburg, FL, Myles A. Smith (Danielle) of Midway Park, N.C.; father, Bob Robinson, Sr. (Ann); sister, Robin Rabon (Aubry) of Conway, S.C.; brother, Bob Robinson, Jr. of Chicago; nephews, Will Murphy, Ryan Murphy; niece, Megan Murphy; his beloved dog, Helga and a hosts of friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Crown Point Baptist Church at 10153 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
Friends may call the residence of Linda Stillinger at 766 Dove Point Drive in Orangeburg.
