Robert King

Robert King, 80, of Orangeburg passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Rivelon Baptist Church in Orangeburg.  Rev. Kevin Ard and Rev. Frank Hay will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg.

Pallbearers will be Mack Crosby, Thomas Rickenbaker, Louie Funchess, Marty Funchess, Perry Smith and Bert Bozard.

Mr. King was born on July 31, 1937 to the late Harvie Lee and George Zeigler.  Robert married the love of his life, Jeanette Bozard King on September 3, 1959.  He was a member of the United States Army.  Robert worked at Ballard Parts in Orangeburg for over 45 years.  He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting and working in his garden but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and following his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.  He was well respected and adored by the community.  Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Thomas; mother-in-law, Ella Mae Bozard.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanette Bozard King of Orangeburg; daughter Kimberly Dysard (Scott) of Orangeburg;  son Tracy King (Julie) of Chapin; grandchildren, Justin Jackson (Chancie Shelley), Casey Jackson (fiancé, CiCi Strock),  Maddie King and Robert King; sisters, Kathy Rasmussen (J.R.), Nunnie Zeigler, Patricia Walker; brother-in-law,  Lavern “Joe” Bozard.   

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Grove Park Hospice at P.O. Box 701, Orangeburg, SC  29116.
