William "Bill" Benjamin Wetherington, Jr.

William “Bill” Benjamin Wetherington, Jr., 77, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg.  Pastor Kenny Baltzegar will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 P.M. prior to the memorial service.

Mr. Bill was born on February 9, 1942 in Columbia, S.C.  He was the son of the late William B. Wetherington, Sr. and the late Margaret E. Farrell Wetherington. He served in the United States Army National Guard and retired after over 30 years of service.  He also retired after 35 years from Carolina Eastman.  Mr. Wetherington was a member of the Progress Masonic Lodge #356.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jean "Boo" Stroman Wetherington; daughters, Dawn Wetherington Collins, Margaret Wetherington Crider; grandchildren, Jace Wetherington Crider, William Heyward Crider, Kandice Collins Nettles (Patrick), Jordan Elizabeth Collins, Cory Shane Collins; great-grandson, Grayson Hayes Nettles; brother, Robert Neal Wetherington (Linda); sister, Sue Wetherington Ezzyk (Donny); sister-in-law, Lynn Stroman Victry (Howard); special friends, Chic Smith and “The Coffee Club”, Jimmy Stokes, Jim Strickland, James Mitchell and a life-long friend, Bill Long.

Memorials may be made to Lakeside Animal Rescue at 551 Otto St. Holly Hill, S.C. 29059.
