Ada Elizabeth “Betty” Pooser, 75, of 1128 Ellis Ave, Orangeburg, SC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on October 4, 2024.
Betty was born in Brunswick, GA, on September 26, 1949. She was the daughter of the late William Wilson Bartlett Sr. and Margaret Ruth Derick Bartlett. She graduated from Freeport High School in Freeport, Ill; and McConnell Airline School from Minnesota. Betty met her husband on a blind date in 1972 and spent 52 beautiful years together. She was a devoted wife for 47 years. Betty was a teacher assistant at Orangeburg Preparatory School for 15 years before leaving work to be a devoted Nana. A member of the Orangeburg Elks Lodge, where she enjoyed dancing with her husband, Ricky, on Friday nights. She was also a Lioness with the Orangeburg Lions Club. Betty was a member of the Eastern Star #162 and the Edisto Car Club.
Betty is survived by her husband, Richard “Ricky” Lee Pooser of the home; daughters, Margaret “Peggy” Kathleen (Casey) Dyer of Santee and Amy Elizabeth (Paul) Holt of Branchville; beloved grandchildren, Holland Edward Holt, Casey Byron Dyer, Jr and Joycelynn Elizabeth Holt; brothers, Dr. Walter (Dr. Melissa) Bartlett of Poquoson, VA. and William “Bill” (Elaine) Bartlett Jr. of Johnson City, TN; cousin, GB Mitchell of Darien, GA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Morris Bartlett, of Illinois.
During her extended illness with Dementia, she was blessed with loving caretakers alongside her husband. The family would especially like to thank Evelyn Govan for devoting so much love and support during her time at home. The family would also like to thank Grove Park Hospice for their compassion and support during this difficult time.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Charles Bowers, John Reid, Jimmy Myers, Charlie Pace, Calvin Parker, George Brooks, Danny Dantzler and Chris O’Cain.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of Orangeburg Elks Lodge #897 and the Orangeburg Lions Club.
Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, S.C.
