Agnes Dewitt Craven, 90 of 1357 Dantzler Street Orangeburg, S.C. 29115 Passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 18, 2014. The funeral service will be Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg, S.C. Pastor Jim Davis and Pastor Wayne Ellis will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg, S.C.
Pallbearers will be Ray Craven, Steve Craven, Catlin Craven, Julius Craven, Glenn Smith, and Michael Craven
Mrs. Craven was born in Bowman, S.C. on March 6, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Gratton Dewitt and Mattie Cook Dewitt. She was a graduate of Bowman High School in Bowman, S.C. Mrs. Craven was retired from Utica Tool Company. She worked for Earl Dukes, Jr. Barbecue and Antley's Barbecue where she retired at the age of 86. She enjoyed working, especially talking with people. Mrs. Craven was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Orangeburg, S.C. She is the widow of Julius Craven and is preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survivors include one sister Bernice Smith of North Charleston; two sons Ralph (Lois) Craven of Cameron; Ronnie (Lynne) Craven of St. Matthews; four grandchildren, Ray (Marsha) Craven, Steve (Susan) Craven, Catlin Craven and Haley Craven; four great-grandchildren, Julius Craven, Savannah Craven, Jennifer Craven and Sarah Craven.
Visitation Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 6:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg, S.C.
The family wishes to thank Grove Park Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care and Dr. Crickman and her staff for their help and care.
