Alan Inabinet, 70, of Cordova, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017.
The family will receive friends at Alan's home in Cordova from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the memorial service which will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Orangeburg, 1240 Russell St., Orangeburg, with the Rev. Ryan Tucker officiating. Honorary attendants will be members of The Brenda Bynum Couples Sunday School Class.
Alan was born on Jan. 9, 1947, in Orangeburg, a son of Minnie Lou Infinger Inabinet and the late Benjamin Malcolm Inabinet Sr. He was predeceased by his first wife, Linda Judy Inabinet, and his brothers, Benjamin "Bennie" Malcolm Inabinet Jr. and Donald "Donnie" Inabinet.
Alan is survived by his wife, Bonnie Stephens Innabinet; a daughter, Lana I. Rast (Skip Sanders; sons, Shane (Denise) Inabinet and Shad "Pud" Inabinet (Chris Robinson); stepdaughter, Jeanie (Scott) Sutton; stepsons, Maxcy Stroman and Stephen (Haley) Stroman; his Mother, Minnie Lou Inabinet, sisters, Taunya (Virgil) Fairey and Bonnie (Tommy) Thomas and his grandsons, Jacob Inabinet, Nicholas Inabinet, Samuel Inabinet, Hogan Stroman, Jax Stroman and Samuel Sutton.
Alan served four years in the United States Marine Corps. He earned a meritorious promotion to sergeant while in Khe Sanh, Vietnam, a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with a Ribbon of Valor for bravery and leadership in battle. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Orangeburg, The Brenda Bynum Couples Sunday School Class, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2779, The Elks Lodge 897, The American Legion and The Progress Masonic Lodge 356.
