Alice Bates Garrick , 88 died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at The Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:00 AM at the church before the service.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 27, 2016 at St. George Baptist Church in Orangeburg with burial in the church cemetery with Rev. Steve Dees officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
Pallbearers will be Jim Rumchak, Ray Jameson, Clyde Whisenhunt and her grandsons, Wes Garrick, Jonathan Garrick and Christopher Garrick.
She was born October 6, 1927 in Orangeburg, SC; the daughter of the late Glenn Bates and the late Annie Mae Sanford Bates. Mrs. Garrick was a member of St. George Baptist Church and was retired from the Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of the late James Wesley Garrick.
Survivors include 3 sons; James Wesley Garrick of Orangeburg; Donald and Becky Garrick of Orangeburg and Tommy and Teresa Garrick of Greenville; 4 grandchildren; Hope Kaiser, Wesley and Melanie Garrick, Jonathan and Whitney Garrick and Christopher and Lynn Garrick; 7 great grandchildren; Sydney Kaiser, Garrick Kaiser, James Caden Garrick, Joshua Kaiser, Layla fort, Colton Garrick and Nora Garrick; a brother; Halbert Bates of Orangeburg; 3 sisters; Mary Dell Gray of Orangeburg, Margaret and Gene Pettit of Orangeburg; Ellen and Ted Bizzell of Norway.
Friends may call at the residence of Margaret and Gene Pettit; 218 Hickory Hill Road, Orangeburg.
Visitation will be held 10:30 to 11:00 AM before the service at the church on Friday.
