Alice Violet Rast Smoak

Alice Violet Rast Smoak, 99, of Cope, SC who loved her Lord was welcomed at her heavenly home on July 14, 2015.

Alice who loved everyone and was loved by all will be truly missed by her son Jerry Smoak (Brenda) and daughter Janis Garrick (Sammy) as well as all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Alice was born April 13, 1916 in Holly Hill, SC; she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Ethel Rast. Alice was a graduate of Holly Hill High School. She worked at JC Penney's in Orangeburg for 20 plus years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. For the past 10 years, Alice was loved and cared for at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sammy and Janis Garrick, Bishopville, SC. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Howard E. Smoak who called her his "sweetie" and by their son, Ronald Howard Smoak (Ronnie).

There will be a visitation at First Baptist Church in Bishopville from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Friday, July 17th in the Fellowship Hall for her church friends from Bishopville.

Edisto Baptist Church of Cope, SC (where Alice was the oldest member) will host a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 18th. The funeral will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM Saturday with the Rev. Steve Fields officiating. Burial will be at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Cordova, SC. The Casket will be in the church during the visitation at Edisto Baptist Church.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
