Athleta "Tootsy" Morris

August 24, 1927 — August 14, 2015

Mrs. Athleta (Tootsy) Bozard Morris, 87, of St. Matthews, SC passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 following an extended illness. She was born August 24, 1927 in St. Matthews to the late Harvey M. Bozard and the late Jessie Brady Bozard Surles. She was also predeceased by her step-father Johnnie D. Surles and her step-mother Nellie Bozard.

Athleta was a 1944 graduate of St. Matthews High School. She was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, James Angus Morris; two daughters, Angela M. Jones of Miami Springs, FL, and Marla M. Fogle and husband, Joe, of Fort Mill, SC; three grandchildren, Tara F. Orand and husband Neil, of Atlanta, GA, Kim F. Bellamy and husband Bryan of Savannah, GA, Tripp Fogle and wife Leah of Fayetteville, GA; and one great-grandson, Chasen Bellamy of Savannah, GA.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Calhoun Baptist Church, 4318 Old State Road, St. Matthews, with Pastor Larry Wagner officiating. Visitation will be at 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service. Burial will be at West End Cemetery in St. Matthews.

Pallbearers are Tripp Fogle, Bryan Bellamy, Neil Orand, Christopher Wilbanks, Ricky Bair, Lee Hollingsworth, Ted Ficek and Bubba Hite.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Calhoun Convalescent of St. Matthews, Regency Hospice of Orangeburg, White Oak Manor of York, and Regency Hospice of Rock Hill for the loving care they provided. A special thank you to church and community friends for their visits, prayers, cards, flowers, gifts, and support during Athleta's illness.
