Augustus "Frank" Rast, Jr.
March 19, 1946 — April 3, 2017
Augustus “Frank” Rast, Jr., 71, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg. Burial will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Orangeburg. Rev. Ricky Redmon will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Robert Livingston, Jeff Mitchum, Paul Leedecke, Mark Ott, David Ott and Allen Ott.
Mr. Rast was born on March 19, 1946 in Orangeburg. He was the son of the late Gus and Vert Rast. He served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Rast was a graduate of Orangeburg High School and Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College. He retired from McCall Thomas Engineering as a draftsman. He drew blueprints for many houses around Orangeburg and he was also a wedding photographer. Mr. Rast taught classes at Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College in blueprint reading, photography and calligraphy. He was predeceased by his wife, Carol Rast.
Survivors include a son, Monty Rast of Orangeburg; a daughter, Jaime (Guy) Moorer of Cope; a step-son, Tyson McCormick of Charleston; grandchildren, Jaxie Rast, Chandler and Chloe Moorer.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
