Barbara Jean (Hutchins) Thompson

Barbara Jean Hutchins Thompson, 73, of Cordova passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 27, 2024, with her loving family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg. Rev Larry Williams will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton Street, Orangeburg.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel prior to the funeral service.

Barbara was born on August 19, 1951, in Orangeburg. She was the daughter of the late Aubrey Hutchins and the late Beatrice Binnicker Hutchins. She worked for many years at Edisto Primary School in the lunchroom until her retirement.  Barbara was known for the love she had for the children at Edisto Primary School. She was their favorite lunchroom lady.  She will be cherished and remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that will forever be missed.

Survivors include her husband, Henry W. “Bubba” Thompson of the home; sons, Wesley (Chelsa) Thompson, Ricky (Amy) Thompson all of Cordova; grandchildren, Kelci (Dylan) Caruso, Brantley Thompson both of Cordova; a great-grandchild, Waverly Caruso; brother, Wayne (Paula) Hutchins of Neeses and a number of additional family and friends.
