Benjamin Luther “Luke” Brant, 88 of Orangeburg died on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg. Rev. Billy Williams will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Brant, Jerry Thompson, Jimmy Hawkins, Ernie Rutland and Montey Cross.
He was born September 13, 1928 in Orangeburg, SC; the son of the late Bertie L. Brant and the late Lillie Mills Brant. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Orangeburg School District #5 and was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.He was the widower of the late Mary Griffin Brant and was preceded in death by a daughter; Lois B. Deaver; a great granddaughter; Jorgia Lucille Kemmerlin and 4 brothers, John Henry, Fred, James and Gene Brant.
Survivors include his daughter; Ann Milhouse of Orangeburg; 4 grandchildren; Gary Kemmerlin (Love); Todd Kemmerlin (Angie) all of Canaan Community; Crystal Bramblett (Bobby) of Lexington; Tracey “T.J.” Pippin (Johnny) of Cope; 7 great grandchildren; Hunter Kemmerlin, Michael Kemmerlin, Connor Kemmerlin, Kyner Kemmerlin, Jay Bramblett, Jeffrey Bramblett and Finn Pippin; 1 step great grand-daughter; Courtney McDaniel of St. Matthews; 4 sisters; Mary Cunio of Rowesville, Gertrude Thompson, Betty Carson both of Cordova and Gloria Chaplin of Orangeburg; son-in-law; Danny Deaver of Orangeburg; sister-in-law; Louise Tallent (Jody) of Augusta, GA and a sister-in-law; Sarah Brant of Columbia; brothers; Ed Brant (Devone) of Orangeburg, George Brant of Orangeburg and Roger Brant (Mary) of Cordova.
Friends may call at his residence and at the funeral home.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
