Berdine Knight Valentine

Berdine Knight Valentine, 76, of Elloree, S.C. born on August 3, 1941, daughter of the late Tommy Luther and Bertha Lee Knight peacefully passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg.  Rev. Josh McClendon will be officiating.

Affectionately called “Miss Berdine” by many served others as a “caretaker” and “their angel on earth.”  She passionately provided others with care and dignity and the best homemade pies and cakes you ever tasted!  She was predeceased by her husbands, Floyd Dantzler, John Valentine, her beloved son, David B. Smith, brother, Johnny Knight and her sister, Arlene Dantzler.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Ken Hutchins of Johnston; son and daughter-in-law, Willis and Robette Smith of Elloree; son, Ray Smith of Elloree; daughter-in-law, Tina Smith of Elloree; sister Lounette Collins-Smith (Arthur) of Cope; half-sister, Coleen Jeffcoat; step-children, Kathy (Bill) Rivers, Jeff (Tammy) Valentine, Billy Valentine, Brenda Valentine all of Branchville and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
