Bernard Timrod "Tim" Nettles, 73 of 149 Nettles Road, Cordova died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg with Rev. Jakie Walters and Rev. Larry Williams officiating.
Pallbearers will be James Nettles, Jr., Jarrett Nettles, Jackie O. Nettles, Jr., Alan Nettles, Craig Nettles and Bruce Herring.
Honorary Pallbearers are Carlisle Cook, Lin Wolfe, Thomas Wolfe, Donald Thomas, Rex Rast and Carroll "Bubba" Arant
He was born June 18, 1941 in Orangeburg, SC; the son of the late Clyde "Pete" Nettles and the late Rodel Smoak Nettles. He was a member of Garden City Baptist Church and attended Edisto Baptist Church in Branchville. He was Past Worshipful Master Masonic Lodge 356; 2 times Past President and 10 years Treasurer of the Edisto Shrine Club; a member of the Elk Lodge; a Former Reserve officer for Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department. A member of Carolina Drifting Sam's Camping Club; a member of Good Friends Camping Club. He was employed with Utica Tool Company and retired from Albermarle Corp. in 2003. He was an Electrician, a Mason, Shriner, Elk, Granddaddy, Paw Paw, Great Granddaddy, Brother, Uncle, Husband, Daddy, Loving Companion and a friend to all who knew him. He loved traveling in his motor home on the road with all his camping friends, fishing in his pond, the Ocean, the Edisto River, sitting in his workshop and cooking outdoors whenever he could. He was preceded in death by son, Dale Nettles and an infant son, Bernard Thomas Nettles.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years; Joyce Thomas Nettles of the home; a son; James "Jimmy" Nettles and Tina of Cordova; daughter; Christel Nettles of Cordova; Grandchildren; James Nettles, Jr. Jarrett (Corie) Nettles, Kristen Nettles Hoover, Travis Nettles and Chassidy Nettles; 7 Great grand sons; 1 Great granddaughter; Brothers; Sheck (Louise) Nettles of Cordova; Jackie O. Nettles, Sr. of Florida; sister; Melba (Kent) Pursley of Cordova and multiple nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his two fur babies, Harley and Raven and Grand-dog, Sam.
Friends may call at the residence; 149 Nettles Road; Cordova and at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, February 6, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
