Bertha Lorene
Kirby
Nov 3, 1947 — Jul 9, 2026
Her presence in any room brought warmth and comfort, and her laughter was a gentle melody that lifted the spirits of those around her.
With hearts full of sorrow, we announce the passing of Bertha Lorene “Clip” Kirby, who departed this life on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at her residence after an extended illness. Born on November 3, 1947, Clip’s remarkable journey through 78 years on this earth was filled with unwavering love, gentle kindness, and a spirit that touched all who knew her.
Clip was a treasured wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. To her loved ones, she was the center of gravity. Her presence in any room brought warmth and comfort, and her laughter was a gentle melody that lifted the spirits of those around her.
Her cherished daughter, Lisa Jennings (Marvin), survives Clip, carrying forward her legacy of compassion and strength. Clip was also deeply grateful for her six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, her sister, Nell Walling and her brother, Ernie Walling. They, like so many others, will hold her memory close and recall the joy she brought into their lives.
While remembering Clip’s life, it is impossible not to reflect upon those who went before her. She was preceded in death by her father, Laurie Walling, and her other mother, Bertha Walling. She was also preceded by her beloved husband, Norman Kirby, whose partnership for over sixty-four years in love and in life Bertha treasured beyond measure. The loss of her daughter, Janet Evans, and grandson, Bryan Evans, weighed heavily upon her heart, but her love for them endured without end.
Family and friends are invited to the home of Linda and Marvin Jennings, 115 Podium Road in Cordova on Saturday, July 11, 2026, and Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 12:00-6:00 P.M. or call the residence at 803-696-8660 or 803-696-0098.
As family and friends grieve her absence, they also celebrate the blessing of having shared in Bertha’s life.
Bertha Lorene "Clip" Kirby’s journey has come to a peaceful close, but the lessons she imparted and the love she gave will echo on, lighting the way for generations to come. As we bid farewell to Clip, we hold tight to her memory—ever grateful for her example of grace and generosity and ever honored to have known and loved her.
