Bessie Aultman Davis, 95, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 at her home after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at West End Cemetery in St.Matthews, S.C. Dr. Rev. Thomas B. Huggins will be officiating.
Mrs. Davis was born on May 17, 1921 in Calhoun County. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Aultman and the late Rena Ezekiel Aultman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Matthews and the Faith Sunday School Class. Mrs. Davis taught Sunday School for many years. She loved working in her yard with flowers. She planted a large vegetable garden, especially butter beans and the best tomatoes to share with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bunnie C. Smith, her second husband, Andrew P. Davis and a son, James (Kenny) Smith.
Survivors include a son, B. Wayne (Susan) Smith of St. Matthews; a daughter, Charlotte S. (C.E.) Shealy of Irmo, S.C., seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Her children would like to thank Jane Hamilton and Penny Davis for their loving care to our mother during her illness.
A visitation will follow the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Matthews First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 348, St. Matthews, S.C. 29135.
