Betty Jean Defazio

Betty Jean Defazio, 68, of Orangeburg passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Orangeburg Lutheran Church 610 Ellis Ave, Orangeburg, SC 29115.

Mrs. Defazio was born on November 9, 1950 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She was the daughter of the late Earl Schmid and the late Betty Chornick Schmid.  She worked over a decade at the SPCA and had a passion for helping pair lonely animals with their forever home.  She was always helping others and volunteering in her community.  She leaves an everlasting imprint on this community.  She was loved by her family, friends, and community and will be deeply missed by all including her four legged friends.

Survivors include her son, Eric Laux (Jennifer) of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Eric Laux, Jr., Eliza Laux; sister-in-law, Jackie Schmid; nieces, Terran Schmid, Britainy Schmid and Brianna Schmid.

In lieu of flowers memorials  may be made to the SPCA at 225 Ruf Rd, Orangeburg, SC 29118.
