Mrs. Betty Jean Milhouse Hunter, 89, of Orangeburg, SC died peacefully at her home early on May 22, 2025, following a brief illness. Her husband was the late Willard Glenn Hunter who was her sweetheart and beloved husband for over 68 years prior to his passing in 2022.
Betty was born February 28, 1936, in Orangeburg to the late Eugene Walter and Ella Carson Milhouse. She graduated from Orangeburg High School in 1953. She was a lifelong member of Northside Baptist Church, was a member of Cornerstone Sunday School Class, and a member of the choir as well as the church organist for many years. She was retired as secretary from Orangeburg Internists, P.A.
Betty was a friend to all. The word most often used to describe her was “sweet”, not unlike her famous chocolate cake roll. Betty loved her family wholly and truly and was happiest when with them at their homes, at Edisto Beach, or in the mountains of Maggie Valley, NC. She was a true Christian lady that will be missed greatly by many friends as she “never met a stranger”.
