Betty H. McDaniel, who was born on May 29, 1940, in North Carolina, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, with her loving daughter by her side. She leaves behind the memory of a life marked by kindness, compassion, and a deep love for both her family and the many people whose lives she touched.

For many years, Betty worked as a hairdresser in Orangeburg, a role that suited her warm and caring nature. She loved to be around people, and her work gave her the opportunity to share conversation, comfort, and friendship with those around her. She was known as a kind and compassionate woman, someone whose presence brought ease and welcome to others.

At the heart of Betty’s life was her family. She was a devoted and supportive wife for more than 64 years to her beloved husband, Burney McDaniel, who preceded her in death. Their long marriage stood as a testament to commitment, loyalty, and enduring love. Betty also dearly loved her family and took great joy in the bonds they shared.

She is survived by her daughter, Dalene McDaniel, and by her sons, Mark McDaniel (Dr. Mary Driscoll) and Mike McDaniel (Donna), seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Those who knew Betty will remember the way she cared for the people she loved and the steady support she offered throughout her life.

In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her father, J.C. Hutchinson, and her mother, Wincie Hutchinson. Their memory remained part of the story of her life, which was rooted in love, family, and lasting devotion.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 1012 Whitman St SE, Orangeburg, SC 29115. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Columbia Road, Orangeburg, 4830 Columbia Road Northeast, Orangeburg, SC 29118. Rev. David Lee Mitchell will be officiating.

Betty H. McDaniel will be remembered with love for her gentle spirit, her compassion for others, and the devotion she gave so freely to her family. Her life was a blessing to those who knew her, and her memory will be treasured always.
