Betty Jean (Mitchell) Hildebrand

Betty Jean Hildebrand, 94, of Orangeburg passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery, 601 Summers Ave. Orangeburg.  Rev. Al Somervell and pastor Joseph Hallman will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jim Porter, Dr. Kenny Kinsey, Jay Hildebrand and Tres Hildebrand.

Mrs. Hildebrand was born on December 9, 1929, in Florence, S.C. She was the daughter of the late James O. Mitchell and the late Ethel Howell Mitchell. She was a faithful member of Southern Methodist Church in Orangeburg. She worked for many years as a teller with South Carolina Bank and Trust. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, William "Bernardo" Hildebrand, Sr. and her brother, Jim Mitchell.

Survivors include her son, William B. Hildebrand, Jr. (Judy); daughter, Diana Austin; grandchildren, Tres Hildebrand, Betsy Jill Callaway, Mit Callaway; four great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; four nieces and two nephews.
