Betty Lou Welch Scott LaFrance , 77, passed away on  Friday, November 4, 2016 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, November 7, 2016  at Rivelon Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.  Rev. Kevin Ard, Rev. Larry Williams and Rev. Frank Hay will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be  Leslie Scott, Stanley Scott, Michael Evans, Jody Sandifer, Timmy Newsome and George Hutto, Jr.

Mrs. Betty LaFrance was born on January 30, 1939 in Olanta, S.C.  She was the daughter of the late Melvin T. Welch and the late Luvenia Miles Welch.  She was retired from Hughes Aircraft, but continued to work at Belk Hudson for many years.  Mrs. LaFrance was predeceased by her husband, Everette LaFrance; her son, Stewart Scott; brother Edward Miles and brother Ronnie Welch.

Survivors include her son, Richard “Ricky” Scott (Alicia) of Pelion; daughters, Darlene Scott and Karla Chnupa of Cayce, Renate Scott of Orangeburg, Debrah LaFrance-Iglesias (Jose) of Miami, FL., Julie Whisenhunt (Johnny) of Cope, Teresa LaFrance of Millboro, VA and son Everette LaFrance, Jr. of Millboro, VA; 2 sisters, Faye Sandifer (Joey) of Orangeburg and Bertie Mae Ice of New Zion, S.C.; 3 brothers, Larry Welch (Bertha Mae) of Manning, David Welch (Vi) of Newberry and Johnny Welch (Ann) of Neeses; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Grove Park Hospice for their comfort and care.

Memorials may be made to Rivelon Baptist Church at 395 Rivelon Road, Orangeburg, S.C. 29115 or to MUSC Cancer Center in Charleston at 171 Ashley Ave., Charleston, S.C.29425

Visitation  will be held from 2:00-3:00P.M. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Rivelon Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.
