Billy R. Etheridge

Billy Ray Etheridge, 88, of Orangeburg passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Mr. Etheridge was born in Wagner, S.C.  He was the son of the late William E. Etheridge and the late Jewel Johnson Etheridge.  He served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.  He was a faithful life-long member of Double Branch Baptist Church in Orangeburg.  Mr. Etheridge was a simple man that enjoyed fishing and a good competitive game of rummy.  He cherished the Saturday family meals and time spent with the people that meant the most to him.

Survivors include his sons, Paul Etheridge (Olive), William Etheridge (Lisa); grandchildren, Ryan Etheridge (Molly), Rachel Gentry (Austin, Dustin Etheridge (Lauren), Summer Etheridge, Timothy Etheridge, Andrew Etheridge, Hailey Etheridge; six great-grandchildren, brother, James Etheridge and his beloved companion, Carolyn “Tina” Hall and a number of additional family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lorita “Pete” Etheridge, a son, Brian Etheridge, brothers, Marion W. Etheridge, A.W. Etheridge, and a grandson Joey Etheridge.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Double Branch Baptist Church, 3567 Neeses Highway, Orangeburg.  Rev. Wayn e Ellis will be officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Double Branch Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ryan Etheridge, Dustin Etheridge, Timothy Etheridge, Andrew Etheridge, Glyn Mobley and Randy Mobley.
