Billy "Bill" Hewitt

October 10, 1946 — May 10, 2019

Billy "Bill" Hewitt passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his three children on Friday, May 10, 2019

Mr. Hewitt moved to Orangeburg from Conway, SC in the 1960's. He made a living as an auto-mechanic for much of his life, was owner and operator of Bill's Amoco. Later years he worked transporting mobile home for Sunrise Mobile Home Sales and Transport which he co-owned and operated with his late wife. He loved to fish,  hunt, plant flowers and vegetable, was a bee-keeper, a member of the Elks Lodge for many years, and a member of Canaan Baptist Church, Cope. He loved to cook and was quite a good freelance-style cook. He took great joy in preparing  meals, not so much for the pleasure of cooking or a love of good food as much as for the joy it gave him to sit down with his family, together sharing the meals he prepared.

Mr. Hewitt is survived by his children; Eddie (Jessica) Hewitt, of Branchville, Pamela (Hank) Hughes of Bowman, and Teresa (Earl) Dukes of Newport, NC., and his adopted son, Ronnie Wannamaker; grandchildren, Rob Hewitt, Brandon Hewitt, Hunter Steedley and Kinsley Hewitt, Steven Hughes, Magan Hughes (Cody) Perian, Michael Dukes, Amanda and Maranda Dukes; 5 great grandchildren, Blake, Michael, Jr., Shane, Harper and Ally; 2 sisters Eula (Joseph) Williamson of Elgin and Annette (Rich) Griffith of SpringHill, FL; five brothers, Earl (Kathy) Hewitt of Cope, Johnny (Jackie) Hewitt of Loris, Todd Hewitt of Orlando, FL, Kermit Hewitt of Camden and Terry Hewitt. Billy was predeceased by his wife, Virginia, his mother Scottie Hewitt Green Holler, a brother Mack Hewitt and his daughter, Sandra Renee Hewitt.
