Billy R Outlaw

Billy Ray Outlaw, Sr., of St. Matthews, SC, born on September 11, 1935 in Sumter, SC, son of the late Mary Lawrence Outlaw and the late James Edward Outlaw, passed away at age 82 on February 6, 2018 in Columbia, SC. He graduated from Columbia High School. Billy served in the Navy Reserve during the Korean Conflict from 1955 to 1960 and he also worked as an industrial insulator at North Brothers, Southern States Construction, Daniels Construction and Prime State Insulation until he retired in 2010. Billy had a passion for avid outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing and cooking. He was a member of the Congaree Baptist Church, and was a member of Masonic Lodge Iszlar Lodge 177.  Billy was the beloved husband of the late Joyce Louise Outlaw. He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Outlaw, Jr. and brother, James Edward Outlaw, Jr.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, February 9, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens;  845 Leesburg Road, Columbia with Dr. Thomas Huggins officiating.

Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Billy is survived by his son, Whitey and Brandi Outlaw of St. Matthews; sisters, Barbara and Pete Holder of Virginia; Carolyn and Steven Outlaw Barrett of Manning, and a sister-in-law; Ruby Outlaw of Columbia; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.

The family invites donations in Billy’s name to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
