Bob A. Griffis, Sr., 73, of Cordova, South Carolina, passed away on May 19, 2025, in Cordova.
Born on October 17, 1951, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Bob was the son of the late Willie Richard Griffis and Ruby Reeves Griffis. He spent his life rooted in the community where he was born and raised, building a legacy grounded in hard work and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Bob found joy and peace in nature. His love for the land was reflected in his lifelong career as a logger—a profession he pursued with dedication until his retirement. His work ethic and connection to the natural world left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Griffis; his daughter, Michelle Tager (Johnny) of Cordova; and his grandson, Jason Oliver of Cordova. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Brayden and Brycen Oliver; step-grandchildren John Tager and Tina Pantaleon; and step-great-grandchildren Addison, Brian, and Braxton Pantaleon—all of Cordova. His brother Wayne Griffis (Brenda) of Cordova; sister Billie Fickling; and special aunt Patsy Burns of St. Matthews also mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Bob A. Griffis, Jr. and other loved ones whose memories he carried with him throughout his life.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Edisto Home Care and Hospice as well as MUSC Hollings Cancer Center for their compassionate care and support during Bob’s final days.
