Burney Wilson Mcdaniel

Burney Wilson McDaniel, 85, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.  Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, 4830 Columbia Road, Orangeburg.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel.

Honored to serve as pallbearers for Mr. McDaniel are Chase McDaniel, Matthew McDaniel, Jerry Thompson, Jim Strickland, James Hall and Alan Nettles.

Mr. McDaniel was born on May 6, 1939.  He was the son of the late Woodrow McDaniel and  Mamie Lou McDaniel.  He was employed for over 50 years in textile management including working with Orangeburg Garment and Hamrick Manufacturing.  Mr. McDaniel was a well-respected and well-loved member of the Orangeburg community.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Myers.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty McDaniel; children, Mark McDaniel (Dr. Mary Driscoll), Mike McDaniel (Donna), Dalene McDaniel; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Benny McDaniel (Donnita) and a sister, Peggy Dority.
