Cameron Rogers "C.R." "Smitty" Smith, Jr., 71 of Orangeburg died Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Northside Baptist Church in Orangeburg. with Rev. Shane Stutzman and Rev. Dean Cartrette officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

The Family will have a Private Burial on Friday at Cartrette Family Cemetery in Tabor City, NC.

Honoraray Pallbearers will be All Present and Retired Law Enforcement Officers.

He was born September 13, 1943 in Jasper County, SC; the son of the late Cameron Rogers (C.R.) Smith, Sr. and the late Sheila Thames Smith. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church and was retired from Orangeburg City and Orangeburg County Law Enforcement. He served as Sherriff of Orangeburg County for 12 years.

Survivors include his wife; Betty Cartrette Smith of the home; a sister; Krista and Jimmy Stokes of Orangeburg; step-son; Charles Soles of Columbia; sister-in-law; Dianne Cartrette of Myrtle Beach; a brother-in-law; Dean Cartrette of Tabor City, NC; sister-in-law; Sarah Housand Logan of Jupiter, FL; brothers-in-law; Jeffrrey Housand, Patrick Housand and Ronnie Housand all of Tabor City, NC.

VISITATION will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
