Obituary

Throughout his life, Bud was known for his integrity and his gentle demeanor.

Carl Wilson "Bud" Adicks, 94, known fondly to many simply as "Bud," passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Born on July 26, 1931, in Cope, South Carolina, Bud’s long life was a testament to quiet strength and enduring devotion to those he loved.

Bud was the cherished son of Grover and Cora Adicks, both of whom preceded him in death. He spent his formative years in Cope, a place that would remain dear to his heart throughout his life. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean conflict. Bud retired from Pepsi after working many years as a route salesman. He was a proud charter member of Canaan Volunteer Fire Department and a lifelong member of Canaan Baptist Church where he found joy singing in the church choir.

Bud’s legacy is carried on by the family who survives him. He is lovingly remembered by his stepdaughters, Kathy (Clinton) Metts and Glenda Davis; his step granddaughters, Misty (Steve) Salley and Wendy Metts; his sister-in-law, Nancy Adicks and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Each one holds dear the moments and memories shared with Bud—memories defined by his humor, and unwavering support.

He married his beloved wife, Meta Adicks. Meta, whose memory Bud held close, also predeceased him along with a number of brothers and sisters.  Bud was the last surviving sibling out of eleven children.

Throughout his life, Bud was known for his integrity and his gentle demeanor. Friends and family alike could count on his quiet encouragement, sound advice, and readiness to lend a hand. Though his passing was sudden, the legacy of warmth and character he leaves behind endures in the hearts of those who knew him.

To honor Bud’s memory, a funeral service will be held at Canaan Baptist Church, located at 4977 Cannon Bridge Road in Cope, South Carolina on Monday, July 6, 2026, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Rev. Alan Woodward will be officiating.

Honored to serve as pall bearers are Canaan Volunteer Fire Department.

Memorials in his memory may be made to Canaan Baptist Church Choir at 4977 Cannon Bridge Road, Cope, S.C. 29038.

As those closest to him mourn his loss, they also celebrate a life well-lived—one defined by honesty, devotion, and humble strength. Carl Wilson “Bud” Adicks will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
