Carolyn Judy Barnes, 77 passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.
The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Bowman with burial at Bowman Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Fanning; Chaplain Nathaniel McMillan the Chaplain of Pace directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
Pallbearers will be the Grandsons; James Dukes, Don Dukes, Jay Dukes, Mannie Barnes, Trenton Wiles, Ethan Barnes Honorary Pallbearers will be her Great Grandsons
She was born November 4, 1938 in Hampton County, SC; the daughter of the late O.M. Judy and the late Mae Ruth Patrick Judy. Carolyn married Mannie and together they had 4 children. She worked as a cosmetologist with her sister in their shop, Towne Square Beauty Salon. Carolyn was a proud member of First Baptist Church in Bowman, SC. She was a wonderful mother, a terrific grandmother, great sister, aunt and wife. She was an inspirational woman who shed up lifting light upon all she encountered. She was the widow of the late Mannie Barnes and was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Carolyn is survived by her children; Patsy (John) Dukes of Branchville; Judy(Gus) Dukes of Reevesville; James Barnes (Jessica Driggers) of Bowman and Vicky Marchant (Larry Myers) of Branchville. A special mention to Rose (Lib) Barnes a long time close family friends. She has 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn is also survived by 3 sisters; Lou Cile Mock, Marilyn Judy, Anna Mae Weathers and 3 brothers; Herbert, Woody and John T. Judy.
Friends may call at the home of daughter, Vicky Marchant and Larry Myers of 6228 Freedom Road, Branchville and at the funeral home. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home, inc. in Orangeburg.
