Carolyn Skeens Hussey,79 of Orangeburg, S.C. died Thursday, October 23, 2014 at her residence. The family held private funeral services. Burial took place at Harleyville Southern Methodist Church Cemetery, Harleyville, S.C. Mrs. Hussey was born on October 22, 1935 in Augusta, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late William Skeens and the late Lee Beasley Skeens Dempsey. Mrs. Hussey graduated from Cheraw High School and attended Winthrop University. She once held the title of Miss Southern 500. She was a member of Harleyville Southern Methodist Church in Harleyville, S.C. She worked for the Corporate Office in Columbia for the Giant Cement Company. She was predeceased by her step-father Andrew Dempsey and a brother Jim Dempsey.

Survivors include two daughters; Robin (Don) Hay of Harleyville, S.C. and Sheila (Denny) Dukes of Orangeburg, S.C.; one son, Richard E. (Holly) Hussey, Jr. of Roswell Georgia; five grandchildren; Stevie (Lyndsey) Myers of St. George, S.C. and Chris (Courtney) Myers of Walterboro, S.C.; Dusty Dukes of Orangeburg; Richard Hussey and Caroline Hussey both of Roswell, GA; one step-grandson, Donald (Jennifer) Hay, Jr. of Boiling Springs, S.C. and two great-grandchildren, Madysen Myers and Kaitlyn Debois.
