Obituary

Carroll Daniel Arant, affectionately known as “Bubba” by family and friends, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 31, 2026, at the age of 84. He was the husband of Anne Griffin Arant.

Bubba found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He loved to spend time outdoors, fishing and hunting, he had a love for horses and enjoyed riding with his wife and children. He even taught the Jamison Community children how to ride.

Bubba attended Edisto High School and graduated from North High School, where he was an outstanding athlete in baseball, football and track. He received many rewards for his accomplishments in the sports he loved. He was awarded the Silver Baseball for the most home runs and leading hitter.

Bubba was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in the Jamison Community, where he attended church until his health started to decline. He knew his Bible and could recite any passage, if asked.

Bubba is survived by his wife, Anne; one sister, Betty Walters; his children Chris Arant (Tammy) and Dana Judy (Timmy); his grandchildren Carol Ann Wiles (Shane), Morgan Moorer (Jake), Brandon Arant (Brittany) and Jonathan Judy; his great grandchildren Annsley Jensen, Weston and Lakelynn Wiles, Noah and Sims Moorer, Chloe Arant and Rylan Rivers, Rowen and Charlie King; a godson Rodney Boylard; and the mother of his grandchildren Brenda Storie Arant; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Ruth Arant; sisters Patricia Cain, Tammy Fischer, Peggy Jeffcoat; one brother Manning Arant; and a previous niece Addie Grace Bateman.

A celebration of life will be held at Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 2:00. Visitation will follow.

Bubba will always be remembered for the love of his family, his easy connection with others and the place he held in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. His memory will always be cherished.
