Charles Kenneth Bishop, Jr., 87 of Yemassee, SC passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 PM Sunday before the service at the funeral home.
Services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with Rev. Don Helms.
Mr. Bishop was born February 15, 1930 in Savannah, GA; the son of the late Charles Kenneth Bishop, Sr. and the late Fannie Horne Bishop. He was a member of Yemassee Baptist Church and was retired from Electrolux. Mr. Bishop served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Japan; his unit was over an orphanage in Japan making sure that the orphans had clothes and food. He was a Boy Scout leader for 17 years with Troop 312 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Orangeburg and was an avid shrimper.
Survivors include his wife; Gloria Kicklighter Bishop of the home; 2 sons; Dwayne and Sylvia Bishop of Nicholson, GA and Craig and Cheryl Bishop of Orangeburg; 6 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.
Friends may call at his residence and at the funeral home.
