Charles H. Caulk, a devoted family man, dedicated public servant, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at The Oaks in Orangeburg following a brief illness. Born on December 25, 1937, Charles lived a life marked by kindness, faith, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Charles faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserves, demonstrating a profound sense of duty that continued throughout his life. He dedicated over 30 years to the United States Postal Service, where his steadfast work ethic and friendly nature left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. Known for his warm spirit, he truly never met a stranger and was admired for being a Godly man whose faith guided his every action.
An active and devoted member of Highland Baptist Church in Orangeburg, Charles took great pride in serving as a deacon and lending his heartfelt voice to the church choir. His unwavering dedication to his faith and community reflected the core of his character, inspiring many who knew him. Among his simple pleasures, Charles particularly enjoyed fishing, cherishing the tranquility and connection to nature it provided during his years of good health.
Charles is survived by his sons, Charles H. Caulk of Hickory, North Carolina, and Carl W. Caulk and his wife Marla of Bozeman, Montana. He is also remembered fondly by a number of nieces, nephews, and additional family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Charles Caulk and Mrs. Callie Barwick Caulk Thornton; his beloved wife of 64 years, Lois Bailey Caulk; brothers, Earl Caulk and Jimmy Caulk; sister, Barbara Williams; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Caulk. Though deeply mourned, Charles’ legacy of love, faith, and service endures in the lives he touched.
Charles H. Caulk’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and Godliness. His presence will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
