Charles Adrian Nimmo

Charles Adrian Nimmo, loving husband, father, and grandfather died at Laurel Baye Nursing Home in Orangeburg on March 5, 2014.

He was born April 2, 1927 in Westmoreland, TN to Lucian Nimmo and Fannie Sue Gillam Nimmo.

Charles served in the Merchant Marines during the late 1940's, was a motorcycle policeman in Sumter, SC during the early 1950's, and retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of service in 1971 from Shaw AFB, SC. he worked in Chattanooga and Gallatin, TN with the Tennessee Valley Authority for ten years as a Public Safety Officer. He also served as a Deputy Sherriff in Sumner County, TN. He loved to travel in his motor home across the United States visiting family, friends and new places. He loved his family, his pets, music and singing, dancing, and watching western movies.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Justine Rickenbaker Nimmo of Elloree, SC; brothers, William Nimmo of Deer Lodge, Montana and Dean Nimmo of Westmoreland, TN and his parents, Lucian Nimmo and Fannie Sue Gillam Nimmo, and nephew, Charlie Nimmo.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 14 years, Lazelle Felkel Davis Nimmo and her son, Gregg Davis (Terri) of Elloree; and her grandchildren Joshua and Jessica Davis of Elloree; daughters; Donna Sue Nimmo Vance (William) of Greenville, NC; Betty Lynne Nimmo Maxwell (Douglas) of Diamondhead, MS; Lee Ann Nimmo Armbruster (Robert)of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren; Dani Rhea Vance Williams (Turner)of Virginia Beach, VA; Dax Ivan Vance (Heather) of San Diego, CA and Adrian Bernard Armbruster of Virginia Beach, VA; great grandchildren; Kendall Williams and Brae Williams of Virginia Beach, VA and Kael and Gaige Vance of San Diego, CA; sister-in-laws; Lillie Mae Shuler of Lexington and Lydia Hammond of Sumter; also survived by his niece; Sharon Nimmo Wines (Donald) of Thayne, WY and nephew Wayne Nimmo and their families.

Visitation will be held 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM before the service. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with full Military Service at 4:00 PM at Jericho United Methodist Church in Elloree, SC.
