Charles Daniel Parrott

Charles Daniel Parrott, 88, of Pelion passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, with his loving daughter by his side.

Mr. Parrott was born on January 10, 1936, in York, S.C.  He was the son of the late Curtis Jackson Parrott and the late Ruth Dickson Parrott.  He attended York Elementary school and graduated from York High School in 1954.  He attended Clemson University briefly before enlisting in the United States Navy.  While in the Navy he attended airman school in Norman, OK then he was sent to aviation electrician school in Jacksonville, FL.  He served his enlistment at Whidbey Island Naval Station in Washington, Moffett Field Naval Air Station in CA and then finished his time in the Navy on the USS Hancock.  His specialty was electrical maintenance on numerous kinds of Naval aircraft, both jet and prop powered.  He completed his tour of duty as an Aviation Electrician First Class Petty Officer.  After his time in the Navy he worked for several construction companies and later retired from Georgia Pacific in 1998 as an electronics technician.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheila Ellis (John); granddaughter, Leanne Gartman Padgett (Trey); grandsons, Jackson Epting (Amanda Crayne), Jordan Epting (Caitlyn; three great-grandchildren, Madeline and Tillman Padgett, Charlotte Jones and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Rebecca Dickson Parrott, his sisters, Lorene Morris, Nancy Courtney and his brother, Curtis J. Parrott, Jr.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton Street, Orangeburg.  Bishop Nicholas Haines will be officiating.
