Charles R. Shuler, 84, of Orangeburg passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Shuler was born in Holly Hill, S.C. He was the son of the late Raymond Shuler and the late Ethel Price Shuler. After graduating high school, he served his country in the United States Army National Guard. Mr. Shuler was employed with Horne Motor Company for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Orangeburg Elks Lodge #0897. After retirement he could be found on the farm raising produce or at home making his famous artichoke relish or chow chow. He could be described as a gentle giant that had a heart of gold. His greatest accomplishment was his family. He was a loving husband, father, granddad and “Papa.” He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Barbara Shuler, brothers, Ronnie Shuler, Tommy Faulling and a sister, Margie Sweatman.
Survivors include his children, Christy Davis of Bonneau Beach, Rod Shuler (Tana) of Cameron, Robin Johnson (Heath) of Orangeburg; grandchildren, Cody Johnson (Cassidy), Kaitlin Johnson (Trace Williams), Dylan Shuler, Carson Shuler, Breanna Courtney; great-grandchild, Keaton Johnson and his beloved fur baby, “CR” and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, 4830 Columbia Road, Orangeburg. Pastor Stephen Williamson will be officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Cody Johnson, Dylan Shuler, Carson Shuler, Charles Goodwin, Scott Whetstone, and Bill Sweatman.
