With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Cheryl Ann Blackburn, who left us unexpectedly on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Cheryl was born on May 2, 1962, and in her 64 years, she graced all who knew her with compassion, warmth, and an unwavering love for her family and friends.
Cheryl's life, though cut suddenly short, was a rich tapestry woven with love, laughter, and devotion. Her journey was shared most closely with her devoted husband of over 20 years, M. Wayne Blackburn, Sr., whose partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect.
Cheryl cherished her children, Michael Blackburn, Jr., Brandon Blackburn, and Kathryn Blackburn and her grandchildren, Devin Hubbard, Brandon O'Neil, Isia O'Neil, Ky Blackburn, and Melissa Blackburn who all were the recipients of her boundless affection and wisdom. She cherished every moment spent with them.
Cheryl's extended family meant the world to her. She was a devoted sister to Dennis Thompson (Pam), Steve Thompson, and Terry Thompson, forging bonds that remained strong throughout their lives. Cheryl also maintained treasured connections with her nieces and nephews. Many family and friends mourn her loss as well, carrying memories of her kindness and warmth forward.
Cheryl was predeceased by her beloved parents, Horace and Bernice Thompson, whose love and guidance shaped her into the remarkable woman she became.
Those who knew Cheryl knew her as someone whose heart had room for all. She enjoyed cooking, watching the hummingbirds and watching Lifetime movies. She welcomed friends and extended family openly, sharing in their joys and offering comfort in times of need. Cheryl's sudden departure leaves a void that words cannot truly fill, but the echoes of her love and kindness ring strong in the hearts of those she touched.
